Visitor Restriction due to Influenza Policy
For the safety of our patients, we have changed our visitation policy due to a community-wide increase in respiratory illness. This change was made to help protect our patients, visitors and employees from exposure to respiratory viral illnesses, including seasonal influenza and the 2009 H1N1 Influenza (swine flu).
Under the new policy:
- Visitors, volunteers and family members must be age 12 or older
- Anyone exhibiting symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection will be asked to refrain from visiting the Medical Center
- No children under the age of 18 will be allowed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), adult intensive care units (ICU), 4 South, 4 North, 5 South or 6 North
- We will begin to resume our maternity tours for expectant parents
We will make a few exceptions to our age restrictions: - Children under 12 will be allowed to make limited visits to Obstetrics and Pediatric units. This needs to be approved by the nursing director or administrator on duty. Call (310) 423-5180
- Requests to visit patients in compassionate-care situations may be approved by the nursing director or administrator on duty. Call (310) 423-5180
While we are fully appreciative of the impact these policy changes have on our patients and visitors, we believe these actions are necessary to help prevent the spread of illness within the medical center. Thank you for your cooperation.
For Visitors
Cedars-Sinai is aware of the importance of the support of family and friends to a patient's well-being. If a friend or family member is at Cedars-Sinai for a medical appointment, an outpatient procedure or has been admitted to the hospital, you are encouraged to accompany them whenever possible.
