

Jeffrey M. Chung, MD is a neurologist with the Division of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Chung's primary clinical interests involve the treatment of epilepsy.
Dr. Chung is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society. In his clinical practice, Dr. Chung focuses on the medical and surgical treatments of patients with epilepsy. He routinely uses invasive and non-invasive electroencephalography, intra- and extra-operative electrocorticography to localize areas of seizure onset for resection in the treatment of patients with medically refractory epilepsy. His research interests include the mechanism of epilepsy, predicting surgical decision and outcome with multi-modal probabilistic mapping techniques, neuronal signal processing, and device-oriented therapy.
Dr. Chung has presented at multiple national conferences and lectured extensively. His awards include Falks Medical Scholar, CARE Outstanding Patient Care Award, and the Clinical Research Fellowship Training Award from the Epilepsy Foundation. A prolific lecturer, Dr. Chung has made numerous presentations on the medical management of epilepsy, mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, and epilepsy in pregnant women.
Dr. Chung graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine, with a bachelors in Biological Sciences. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. After a medical internship at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center-Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, he completed his residency training in Neurology and fellowship training in Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to joining the faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he was an assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Florida.
