Ali Salim, MD, FACS

Attending Surgeon

Program Director, General Surgery Residency Educational Program

Ali Salim, MD, FACS is an attending physician and Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Educational Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His primary responsibilities include operating room teaching and supervision, bedside tutorials, supervision of fellow and resident research projects and mentorship.

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Salim is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Pacific Coast Surgical Association, Western Surgical Association, Society of Black Academic Surgeons, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

In addition to his clinical and teaching duties, Dr. Salim is an experienced researcher who is currently the principal investigator for a National Institutes of Health funded study on increasing organ and tissue donation in Hispanic Americans.

Dr. Salim has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of Trauma, Archives of Surgery, Annals of Surgery, Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Injury, and American Journal of Surgery.

Dr. Salim earned a bachelors degree from Duke University, a masters degree from Columbia University, and his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and residency as well as his fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
