The highly specialized Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center offers the invaluable experience of studying the tertiary and quaternary care patients of an 877-bed major metropolitan teaching hospital. The most sophisticated equipment is directed toward solving the most challenging of diagnostic and patient care problems. Our department is renowned for its expertise, outstanding educational activities and research.
Our residency program prepares the young pathologist for the general practice of anatomic and clinical pathology while providing a strong foundation for developing expertise in subspecialty areas of pathology and an academic career. Our graduates successfully compete for fellowship positions at major centers through the country, as well as for some of the most desirable staff positions in the region. Graduates of our program are at academic centers and in community settings. Our educational and research activities are superb. We were one of the first medical centers in the country to perform polymerase chain reaction for diagnostic purposes and have a busy molecular testing laboratory. Our residents participate actively in research activities, and there have been approximately 50 resident presentations at national meetings in the last 10 years.
We encourage you to visit the new Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine website to learn more about us.
