Muscular Dystrophy (MDA) Center

Cedars-Sinai's Muscular Dystrophy Center professionals are highly regarded for their work in diagnosing and caring for patients with all varieties of muscular dystrophy.

This disease causes weakness in the muscles closest to the torso (mid-section of the body). There are several kinds of muscular dystrophy, with the most common being Duchenne's muscular dystrophy. The center offer quality medical care from doctors, nurses and therapists experienced in dealing with neuromuscular disease. The center also serve as a site for clinical trials of the latest experimental therapies and drugs. Comprehensive electromyogram (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), repetitive stimulation, single-fiber EMG and muscle punch biopsies are available for diagnosis. Protocols for Tensilon and periodic paralysis provocative testing are performed in a safe, controlled environment.
