
Former clinical chief of orthopedic surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Clive M. Segil, MD, has traveled extensively sharing his experience and expertise with colleagues around the world. Over the last 30 years, he has served as a visiting professor in Israel, Switzerland, China, Japan as well as cities across the U.S.
Dr. Segil's academic appointments include assistant clinical professor of orthopedics, University of Southern California School of Medicine from 1979 to 1995. His teaching responsibilities have extended to orthopedic and professional programs committees at Cedars-Sinai, where he also serves as an orthopedic consultant for the Genetic Spinal Disorder Clinic. Since 1975, Dr. Segil has been involved in teaching medical and graduate students and trainees in orthopedic surgery at the University of Southern California.
A native of South Africa, Dr. Segil is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He completed an internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in addition to Johannesburg General Hospital, where he also served a residency. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Segil has lectured extensively on such topics as joint replacement, scoliosis, spinal cord injuries, back and shoulder problems, sports injuries and arthoplasty. He is a member of many local, national and international organizations, including the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, California Orthopedic Association and American Medical Association. Dr. Segil is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the International College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Segil was fortunate to learn from the "Father of Hip Joint Replacement," Sir John Charnley, and has been performing hip joint replacement operations for more than 30 years. He has kept current with the newest innovations in joint replacement, and many of his patients are still happy with their hip replacements 25 years after their procedure.
