Led by William Warren Brien, MD the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders has a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, surgical fellows, specialized spine nurses and educators, and conservative care and diagnostic specialists.
Research and teaching are emphases of the institute that help us to provide the most state-of-the-art clinical care available. Numerous clinical trials are being conducted and developed to pursue the latest techniques available to create the most effective treatments available to alleviate back and neck pain. The institute is currently conducting clinical trials in artificial disc replacement to treat pain and disability caused by cervical and lumbar disc disease. Other current studies include non-fusion devices for spinal stabilization, bone morphogenetic protein applications for enhancing the success of spinal fusion and laboratory research involving biomechanics and biotechnology for spinal regeneration.
The institute is also dedicated to teaching other surgeons all the cutting-edge techniques available. An academic environment contributes to a stronger spine institute by challenging the institute's surgeons to share their breadth of expertise and knowledge with other surgeons throughout the world. The result is a dynamic and stimulating environment to encounter and successfully treat the most difficult spinal disorders with the most innovative solutions.
