Edward H. Phillips, MD, FACS

Edward H. Phillips, MD, FACS, is the Director of the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center, A Project of Women's Guild; Executive Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery; Chief of the Division of General Surgery; Director of the Center for Weight Loss; and a surgeon at the Colorectal Cancer Center, all at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Phillips holds the Karl Storz Endowed Chair in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Honor of George Berci, MD.

A board-certified surgeon, Dr. Phillips is also Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center and a Governor of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Phillips has practiced surgery at Cedars-Sinai for more than 25 years and is considered a leading practitioner, clinical researcher and authority of diseases of the breast, as well as laparoscopic surgery. He was the first to perform therapeutic micro-endoscopy of the mammary ducts. In addition, Dr. Phillips holds nine U.S. patents in the field of surgery.

Dr. Phillips is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons, Pacific Coast Surgical and Western Surgical Societies. Dr. Phillips has lectured throughout the United States and in 13 foreign countries. He has written seven textbooks and his articles have appeared in many prestigious surgical journals, such as Annals of Surgery, Archives of Surgery and World Journal of Surgery.

Dr. Phillips received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his medical degree from the USC School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. Following his training, Dr. Phillips served as Resident Supervisor and an instructor of surgery at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center before coming to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
