Leonel A. Hunt, MD

Director, Spine Trauma

Leonel A. Hunt, MD is Director of Spine Trauma at the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders and Cedars-Sinai Orthopedic Center. Dr. Hunt's specialty is in the treatment of pediatric and adult scoliosis, complex spine disorders and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Hunt's primary areas of research interest involve orthopedic implants and innovative treatment of spine-related pain. He has presented his findings at numerous national conferences, including meetings of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, International Musculoskeletal Laser Society, Scoliosis Research Society and Western Orthopedic Association.

Dr. Hunt co-authored a chapter for the book Surgical Techniques in Spinal Instrumentation: BowTi Anterior Buttress Staple. He is a member of the National Medical Association, North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Hunt received his bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and a residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco. Dr. Hunt also completed specialty training in orthopedic surgery of the spine focusing on both adult and pediatric spinal disorders at the San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders in La Jolla, California.
