Mark O. Goodarzi, MD, PhD is the Associate Director of the Division of Endocrinology and the Director of the Endocrine Fellowship Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is also an assistant professor of medicine in residence at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Goodarzi's primary clinical and research interests are in the genetic epidemiology of insulin resistance and related disorders such as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, the metabolic syndrome and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He has won several awards, including the UCLA Department of Medicine Fellow's Outstanding Teacher Award, the NIH National Research Service Award, the Androgen Excess Society Young Investigator Award, and the Western Section/American Federation for Medical Research Outstanding Investigator Award.
Board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, Dr. Goodarzi is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American College of Physicians, Endocrine Society, Androgen Excess Society, American Diabetes Association, American Society of Human Genetics and the American Heart Association. He has written articles for such peer-reviewed publications as the American Heart Journal, American Journal of Epidemiology, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Circulation, Diabetes, Fertility and Sterility, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolismand The Pharmacogenomics Journal.
Dr. Goodarzi received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University, his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and his doctorate from the Department of Human Genetics at UCLA. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in endocrinology at UCLA Medical Center.
